Bart Koetsier
Noctambule
Bart Koetsier photographed his nocturnal wanderings over a period of more than ten years. Driven by a dark romantic longing for the city after closing time, he roamed the streets of Paris and Amsterdam, among others. Without a predetermined goal, as a lonely walker, he recorded his fleeting and moving encounters with the inhabitants of the city by night: unpolished scenes that loom between dusk and dawn. His photography has a unique atmosphere that transcends the recognizable. Koetsier leaves the interpretation of his images to the viewer.
Works available
Together with journalist Margot Dijkgraaf, Bart Koetsier has compiled a book with texts and photography. They depict ten routes through the city of Paris, based on the work of French and Dutch authors, including Simone de Beauvoir, Michel Houellebecq and Adriaan van Dis. Following the footsteps of these famous writers, the book "With Parisian pen" ("A la plume parisienne") forms a unique composition of literary and photographic eyes on the city. The available photos have been published in this book
